The Difference Between Facebook & Google Paid Advertising

Is There Even A Difference? They Are Both Paid Advertising.

Definitely. There is a difference between the two. The difference is in what the user is doing and expecting.  Paid advertising is great and the quickest way to get traffic to your offer. But just because you’re paying for it doesn’t make it the same!

Google V. Facebook

Google
Google indexes and shows your search term in the form of results. When you’re a paying advertiser through Google you bid on Keywords that your customer will search for. If your keywords DON’T show up, your ad doesn’t show! This means you have to wait for a person to search for your term. Ok, so now if your term is being searched and is competitive then you have to make sure you bid enough to ensure your ad even shows up! This is why Paid Advertising can be very expensive if you don’t know how to test campaigns or keywords.
Facebook
Facebook Advertising uses your personal Interests, Likes, Your Profile to help advertisers target their advertising. Unlike Google, the ads will display regardless of someone searching for anything. You will notice the ads are in fixed positions. Like Google you need to make sure your Bid is high enough to beat any competition so you show up in the limited ad spaces. The biggest difference however, is your ads will ALWAYS display if you’re the highest bidder…you won’t have to wait for searching. Also you can get really targeted with “Precise” Interests when you advertise.

Customer Mindset

There will obviously be a difference between the mood of your customer. If you think about it, your customer searching for “Where to buy digital camera” (Long Tail Keyword) in Google will be more likely to buy than if you run the same ad in Facebook. So the next thing for you to understand is how to match Facebook or Google to your customer best. Generally a basic understanding of keywords will help this.
